Building up Confidence

Building up confidence is easier said than done, but these tips can help.

1. Start small

Small accomplishments add up to a bigger success. So start by setting yourself small, manageable goals and then work your way up from there. What are you most afraid of? Tackle that first and see how it goes!

2. Focus on what you can do, not what you can't

Let go of the things you can't control and spend more time focusing on those you can. It's tempting to worry about things that are completely out of your control, but come up with ways to handle it if and when it happens. If you're not able to do anything about the situation, chances are no one else is either and it won't even matter in the long run.

3. Get some perspective

If your insecurities are getting the best of you, take a step back and look at the big picture. Think about the reasons why you're insecure in the first place: does it really matter that much? How will it affect your relationships and everyday life? Chances are your problems aren't even that big of a deal.

4. Learn to deal with rejection

Rejection is never fun, but it's an inevitable part of life. The sooner you learn how to deal with it, the better! Make sure to avoid these common mistakes when dealing with rejection, and if all else fails remind yourself that more opportunities will come up in the future.
